Carp Garlic Festival

August 12th, 2006 by Adina

This weekend is the Carp Garlic Festival. Seanna and I woke up bright and early and drove down to get some garlic and some other fresh, local produce. Obviously, they had a lot of garlic.

Garlic and the blue sky Lots of varieties. A big pile of garlic

There were onions and peppers too.
chiles and onions more chiles hm... could it be... chilis?!

There was a lot of produce. I went to the market religiously last summer while I was in Kingston, and when I wasn’t, I was at the farm, so I really felt in tune with the growing season. This summer, I haven’t been going to the market so much, and while we have been picking raspberries, I’ve really missed that connection. The visit to the fair along with the announcement this morning that the folk fest would be starting in just a few days really brought the season home to me. Here’s some of the produce they had. Someone even had scapes left over from the spring!
Eggplants, beans, potatoes, tomatoes. Beans, eggplants, squash, chiles and parseley. messy beans Scapes!!!!!! Yum! Oyster Mushrooms

It was a beautiful, clear, sunny day, and the bright light through the jars of preserves was simply beautiful.

After collecting food and bags of garlic, we drove home again…

…to make our own preserves! (photos of that in a few days - after my birthday party)
